The excellent damping characteristics combined with the relatively low weight make the Lankhorst plastic sleepers ideal for the use on (steel) bridges. Sound measurements performed on a steel railroad bridge by the Dutch engineering and consultancy form Movares show a sound reduction of 3-5 dB after replacement of the wooden sleepers by plastic sleepers.
For application on bridges Lankhorst offers bridge sleepers that can be supplied in thicknesses varying between 110 and 170 mm. The sleepers can be machined with millimeter accuracy and when necessary be equipped with fastening systems. The bridge sleepers can be uniquely numbered and supplied in a complete set to facilitate a swift installation.
